Zuma for Death Penalty!

Now before you jump down my throat and shout at me for wishing death on someone, I am not. In fact, right now I am praising Zuma. Yes I said I am praising him!

I heard on the radio this morning that Zuma is opening discussions for the death penalty. Now it is important to note that he did not state that he was for or against it, he just stated that why not have a debate about something that has been decided on in the past and most importantly why not in a country that follows ’strict’ democratic principles.

I have always thought that Zuma would always be a good president even though I might see him as a buffoon.

The topic of the death penalty should bring up very interesting and heated debates - I have always love the topic.

What do you think of it, do you think it is a viable fix for crime or do you think that it could potentially ruin lives of innocent people with our current Judicial system in shambles?

if ($fuel > R8.00) {echo run for the hills}

As from next Tuesday, I will be running, very fast!

Every few months we get a fuel price change, sometime down but mostly up. It was announced today that fuel will be going up at least 62c next Tuesday at Midnight. So if you can walk fast/ride, I suggest you start getting back into it because this will tighten up peoples budgets which currently are already like a corset on a 16 century woman.

For the retail market I assume spending will be down because both costs will go up and less money will be spent.

Time to get out those thinking cap, I have always thought mielies could run a car??

Visit to the City of the Sun!

I got a very nice invite to go stay at the Vacation Club in Sun City last week and to put it simply it was amazing. Just from 3 days I have a lifetime of memories with my girlfriend and I.

We did quite a lot including some parasailing and some jet skiing. It was great fun and also presented an opportunity to roam around the palace and get some really neat shots. It was a great break for me which was well needed.

My girlfriends mother joked around about how the government should stay there for a bit to see how things should be run. The place is very clean, has numerous buses going in circles which means a maximum 10 minute wait and then of course it is very safe.

I must also comment on how beautiful some of the hotels are, Laura and I had dinner at Santorini which is at the Cascades hotel and boy is it beautiful. We were surrounded by blue pool water while being served immaculate food which made a beautiful night out!

Telkoms Infrastructure Upgrade

Tags:

I would imagine that a few readers would have huge smiles on their faces right now with the thought that Telkom, our love and joy, are finally getting their act together. Sorry to say, there is a ‘but’ in this article.

I read in the Financial Mail a few months back that Telkom were spending millions if not billions on upgrading and improving their existing infrastructure to increase capacity and reliability and on FM Tech it was proven when Telkom announced that they were going to have a huge decrease in profits when they release their 6 month results to 30 September this coming Monday.

Now this is where the but comes in…I work in the internet business so Telkom is a huge part of my everyday life. Since Friday last week many ADSL users have been experiencing connectivity issues in the Northern Gauteng Region and we had huge outgoing mail problems today using the SAIX outgoing server. After many hours on the phone to both Telkom and SAIX we found out there was a problem.

So I ask this question, if Telkom has spent all this money on upgrading and improving, where has it exactly gone to? We continuously have issues and have had to phone them everyday to get updates and faults and to log them.

I will be happy one we have 16Mb lines at cheaper prices than we are paying for our 4Mb(1Mb) lines and get a huge cap with it, NO extra costs.

I had the luxury of trying out my friends line in Australia while I was ever there a few years back, and all I can say is WOW! Huge download and upload speeds, and 100’s of GB’s of data to upload and download at your hearts content.

Lets hope that when Neotel, Vodacom and the about the be Giant MTN can better Telkom’s rein on top with great prices and most of all great service.

Red For Life - HIV AIDS Is A Reality!

One of my clients is infected with HIV AIDS, my first thought of it was, can I be infected?

This is probably the first thought that comes into everyones mind who is not educated about the disease. The chances of you getting infected by HIV AIDS by just being in the same room as some is…there is no chance. The most important thing is that you know your status, and you make sure everyone around you know.

This is where 5fm and Levi’s are coming to the party when they have launched a campaign called Red For Life. It gives you a chance to go get your self tested at one of the Outreach Mobile Centres which have been visiting malls around the country already from the 1st of October. So if you have not been to one of these and put your contribution towards the fight against HIV AIDS then click here, they will be around until 30 November 2007.

If that is not a good enough reason for you to get tested, then you can win tickets to the Rage for the Revolution concert with bands like The Parlotones, Kabelo, The Dirty Skirts, 340ml, Lira and Loyiso then get down and get tested!

Make a difference, one person may not make a huge difference but a whole nation can move the world.
