Last year I wrote an article about a South African CDN called AfriCDN which I had just "signed up to" to try to speed up my website with distributed content. I'm still waiting for some sort of control panel access even after I got contacted by a top executive at RSAWEB.

This lead me to find an alternative product that would give me a truly global CDN. Funnily enough, I got a comment on that post by a guy called Judah who let me know about a product he was expanding into Africa called CDN.net. This was a really great find and the fact that you could prepay for the data made it a great solution for smaller sites (like mine).

There are some really cool features besides the fact that your account is only charged for what you use. One of these is an unlimited amount of zones thatyou can set up for different websites and of course different assets on a single website.

The other really cool feature is that you're able to select the exact POP locations around the globe depending on your audience and pay points as all these locations differ in pricing.

Now for the curveball.

About a month into using CDN.net the local POP went offline and they never brought it back online - EPIC FAIL! Now in their defence their network purchases resources from providers all around the globe which makes it hard for them to control what happens. It however didn't change my situation.

They have brought it back up but I'm a little scared to commit to them totally.

Other options I am looking into are CacheFly and CDNetworks who both have a local POP and aren't too badly priced it seems.

The following companies make my life awesome, maybe they'll make yours awesome too?
