Should your blogs primary goal to be to make money?

Over the years a few people have made queries about how much money they can make from blogging. I used to love answering these questions because I thought I knew how.
Now that I've grown up a little and my values have changed I don't think blogging should be about making money at all. I think it should be about adding value to peoples lives. The by-product of that could be potentially making money off quality content that is adding value to people who in turn share it.
What are your thoughts? I don't want to be to shortsighted with this but I do think it's an important mindset.
